About the owner
Courtney is a certified Full Spectrum Doula and Grief Coach. After graduating with a BA in Sociology and Social Work, she spent the last ten years working in the healthcare field. She has seen firsthand how wonderful the right team can be, while also seeing how easy it is for individuals to feel overwhelmed or uncertain while navigating within the healthcare world.
Courtney is a mom of four, with three living children and one in heaven. With each pregnancy, she realized how much the experience of pregnancy and birth differed each time, even for the same person. She was inspired to become a doula in 2022, after the loss of her daughter. Finding the right support and connecting to the right resources was a job within itself. Especially for a grieving family. In 2023, she gave birth to another daughter and her pregnancy after loss experience solidified her decision to become a doula and grief coach.
Courtney’s hope is to provide knowledge, care, and a nonjudgemental set of ears to every person and/or couple she supports. She’d like to empower families by allowing them the space to ask any questions, talk through any uncertainties, and express all of their joys, hopes and fears.
While grief and loss are “normal” human experiences, they feel anything but while you are living them. Especially if your grief is pregnancy or child related. It can feel extremely isolating. Talking to others is helpful but sometimes the feeling that they “just don’t get it” is overpowering. While every loss is different, Courtney understands the weight of it. The tiny details that replay, the guilt, the desperation and the anger. But also, the hope that is possible.
When she’s not doula-ing, you can typically find Courtney at a youth sports practice/game or at a library storytime. While she knows parenthood is the busiest, she firmly believes that taking time for yourself is a game changer. It can root us back to who we are outside of “parent”. When she can, she enjoys exercise, baking, reading, and interior decorating.
Courtney understands that pregnancy, birth and postpartum are some of the most delicate times we experience as human beings. While beautiful, awe inspiring and life changing, they are also times of great vulnerability. Human connection is one of the greatest gifts and she hopes her connection with the families she supports will provide some level of peace, confidence and strength as they walk through this journey together.
